THE STORY BEHIND THE ART

At first glance, Beneath the Surface appears calm—smooth transitions of deep greens and blues gradually dissolve into soft whites, a seamless evolution of light and shadow. But as your eyes travel downward, the truth reveals itself. Layers of rich, textured earth—deep browns and stormy greys—emerge in raw, untamed contrast. This is where the real story lies.

We all carry things beneath the surface. To the world, we may seem composed, steady, and unshaken. But within us, struggles stir—hidden anxieties, quiet fears, and the weight of experiences we rarely share. This piece is a reflection of that duality: the outer layer of ease and the untold depths that exist beneath.

In creating this work, I am leaning into vulnerability. I am learning that we do not have to carry our struggles in silence, nor do we need to present an unbreakable exterior at all times. Strength is not in the illusion of perfection—it is in the honesty of our journeys, the courage to acknowledge what lies beneath, and the trust to let others see us fully.
