I will carry this resiliency I never knew I had
Healthcare workers…………… need I say more? They are certainly the heroes of the last year and a half. They are who made this horrific moment in time surmountable. They worked the hardest they have ever worked and people didn’t wear their masks. They showed up every day despite being depleted and people hosted parties when they weren’t supposed to. Every day, they were there!
I am sure most of them wanted to give up, but they didn’t. They had to dig deep and so many of them ultimately discovered a resiliency that was within them; the strength and stamina to persevere and push forward every day in the most uncertain of circumstances.
New information, new concerns, not enough ventilators, COVID variants, new practices to implement, combined with exposures, outbreaks, staff shortages and critical care admission spikes. Wave 1. Wave 2 and 3.
They were strong. They cared about their patients, their communities, their staff, and they continued to get up each day and face each challenge as it came, united as a team. In hardship, we often find what we are made of. So many people found a new strength and a resiliency they may not have known they had. Their dedication and unwavering commitment shined over our communities and I hope they know how grateful we are for what they had to endure and ultimately accomplished.
If we have learned anything with this pandemic, it is that we should take notice, even if we aren’t a healthcare worker, that we all have an enormous amount of resiliency in us too. We are capable of showing up and persevering in the most challenging of situations.
