A NOTE FROM THE ARTIST
FEARLESSNESS is not the absence of fear. It’s not being completely unafraid. FEARLESS is allowing yourself to have fears. FEARLESS is having doubts. Lots of them. FEARLESS is living in spite of those things that scare you to death. FEARLESS is falling madly in love again, even though you’ve been hurt before. FEARLESS is submitting to yet another art gallery after numerous rejection letters. FEARLESS is getting back up and fighting for what you want even though you’ve lost before. It’s FEARLESS to have hope that someday things will change. FEARLESS is having the courage to say goodbye to someone who only hurts you. Letting go is FEARLESS. Then, moving on and being alright… That’s FEARLESS too!
FEARLESSNESS is putting on an art show designed to force people to formulate judgements about your work and being ok with whatever they decide.
No matter who you are, fear is something we all have in common. But we have a choice on how we will let it show up in our lives. It can grind us to a halt or we can choose to push through and see what happens.
Confronting fear is never easy and it is scary as hell, but what gives me strength is seeing all the incredible people out there who are persevering and trying.
So I say, let’s empower each other. Let’s be role models and give others the confidence to show up too. Let’s be an example of what being fearless can look like and encourage others to follow suit.
If you can do it, so can I cause we are fearless!
